Stated in an article by the White Hutchinson Leisure & Learning Group, this “can be understood as consumer culture through the media pushing adult products and teen attitudes on younger and younger kids.” However, the trend is changing. Todays parents are as big on enriching play as using digital technology to occupy their children. According to the article published in Vol. XIII, No. 10, December 2013 of White Hutchinson Leisure & Learning Group There has been a cultural change along with a generational shift on how mothers of young children look at their children’s play. “Unlike Boomer moms, who saw their children’s play and learning as separate activities, Gen-Y and Gen-X moms want their children to play and learn at the same time. As a result, we believe there is a shift of leisure destinations visits away from pure entertainment venues such as CEC, [Chuck E Cheese] to more enriching experiences at children’s museums, aquariums and similar venues.”
